Runner Up in Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur
We are so delighted to have been named Runner Up in this years Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE). This is a campaign run by the Local Enterprise Offices around the country. The campaign saw the three LEOs in Cork (Cork City, South Cork, Cork North and West) encourage young entrepreneurs from all over the city and county to enter and be in with a chance to win a share of the €150,000 investment fund available.
The winners were chosen from 45 finalists who were shortlisted from almost 190 applicants. The competition is open to individuals aged 18 to 35 and is in its third year. Louise attended the LEO’s intensive Business Boot Camp weekend in early November where applicants focused on their business plan and their pitch for the judging stage of the competition. The bootcamp took place in the beautiful surroundings of The Maryborough Hotel in Cork. This proved to be a very helpful weekend as it was designed to help participants develop the skills required to take their entrepreneurial ideas and businesses to the next level.
Louise was in the ’Best Start Up Business’ (trading up to 36 months) category and had some very tough competition with the likes of Fruit Cubed and Rebel Chilli also in this category. We were absolutely over the moon when they announced that we were runner up in the ‘Best Start Up Business’ category. Paul Moore, founder of Rebel Chilli was the winner of the Best Start Up Business category. Rebel Chilli produces sauces that are totally unique, with each bottle bursting with fantastic flavour and real heat! Check out this great Cork business HERE.
The 2016 winners in each of the three categories will then go forward to represent their respective LEO in a regional final in February 2017, and if successful there, will fly the Cork flag at the national final to find Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur before the end of the year. Best of luck to all the Cork winners in the regional finals 😊
